Methodology

Every number on this site can be traced back to the document it was taken from. This page explains how the data is collected and checked.

Primary sources only

Tax and payment rates come from the laws (the official arlis.am database) and State Revenue Committee material, customs rules from EAEU acts, and exchange rates from the Central Bank of Armenia. Bank and transfer-service fees and rates come from those companies' own pages.

News articles and other calculators help us find where to look, but no figure is taken from them.

What is stored with every value

The document's address and title, the date the rule applies from, the date we checked it, and a short quote in the original language that proves the figure. All of it is shown in the “Sources” section of each calculator page.

When sources disagree

If two official sources contradict each other, we keep both and flag the conflict. If a value could not be found, it is left empty: we never fill in a figure from memory or by analogy.

How the calculations are checked

Each calculator has examples worked out by hand. Before every release of the site, automated tests recompute them and compare the results with the hand-worked ones. If a single figure does not match, the site is not updated. The same examples, with their intermediate steps, are shown on the calculator pages.

How the data is kept current

The site fetches the Central Bank of Armenia rate automatically twice a day. If the central bank cannot be reached, the last rate received stays in place, and its date is always shown on the page. Tax and duty rates and bank fees and rates are checked by hand; the date of the last check is given for each calculator below.

Sources by calculator

Each link opens the list of sources on the calculator page: the document, a quote and the date.

Sites we cite

Every site whose documents appear in the calculators' sources, most cited first.
